Latika Golyan, Director at Golyan Group of Companies is taking care of the Agro Division of Golyan Group and Golyan Group's Hospitalities Company City Hotel Ltd. She is a BSc Joint Honors from University of Leeds, UK and is also MBA from S.P. Jain Institute and research. She has been involved with various businesses from last 15 year and is extremely passionate and excited about this agri venture.

What is main reason to join agriculture?
- We wanted to give back to society so we started adopting villages and teaching organic farming to help them increase their income by giving them buy back guarantee. We also want to improve the health of people and reduce the country's trade deficit. Nepal imports 2 billion dollars work of Agri produce as of today.
There are many areas where family business or trades are running, but now you want to increase areas of agriculture?
- Our Farmers of Nepal are not getting proper market linkages to fetch max sale value of their produce. Also they are not able to access the improved production technology and supply chain techniques. We at Golyan Agro want to increase framers income by addressing both front and back end issues.
How have you understand Nepal agriculture sector?
- Nepal has the high lands, mid lands, low lands and therefore there is tremendous potential in untapped areas. Nepal can grow Fruits like (Kiwi, Apple, Strawberry, Orange, and Avocado), Vegetables and various valuable Herbs at different agri climatic zones of Nepal which need proper value chain management to reduce Nepal's trade deficit.
How will you lead agriculture, by commercially or as service?
- We will ensure proper value chain management through implementing advance technologies in Agri Sector which helps the farmers of Nepal to get proper Services and make them independent for addressing commercial aspects.

- Through our own resources.

How was your 1 year experience in agriculture?
- The first year has been challenging as most things are dependent on climate and other relevant factors. We now have a great team in a place. We are very excited about our future plans.
Now how will agriculture revolutions move on?
- With the Collective efforts of Business houses, Farmers, Govt Institutions and the youth of Nepal.
How did you select soil type or brand?
- Without Soil no one can think about Agriculture, that’s why we had decided to put our Brand name as “ Mato”
Nepal is agricultural country but nowadays number of agriculturist are decreasing, how did you take this?
- We at Golyan Agro have developed a model to get the youth of Nepal engaged into agriculture.
Which place in Jhapa did you selected or entered farmers?
- Damak, Maharanijoda, Shivsatakshi, Damuna.
After getting your support, what were the daily changes in that place?
- Their Technical skills are improving day by day.
- They are getting better rates of their produce compare to previous year.
- The health of the farmers is also improving.

What types of expertise are there in your group?
- We have a great team with extensive knowledge in different areas of Agriculture.
You have said organic, which fertilizer do you use?
- We use Vermicompose FYM, also herbs and neem based.
How do you prepare it yourself, please briefly explain it?
- We prepare our own using different techniques as advised by our technical team. We also procure few tested products which are recommended for organic production.
When will it be time to harvest?
- Varies Crop to crop, i.e Paddy will harvest in Nov- Dec, Strawberry will starts from Dec and end in March, Vegetables on monthly basis.
How did you search market?
- Through Market research and by analyzing Imports and Exports data which helps us to identify the products which we can grow in Nepal and sell in domestically as well as Export.
Can your brand compete with Indian's brand?
- Yes, I am confident we can by producing Quality products in competitive prices.
Really your works are delightful, how have you selected government?
- We are in process for that.
Is there support of government?
- Very encouraging. The government has been looking forward for their support in future also.
Though you are from high level family, you entered agriculture. Did you get any compliment from government?
- Yes, Associating with Farmers and helping them to increase their income gives us satisfaction. Also that we are entering in to a business which will help Nepal to grow and become independent in terms of Agriculture in years to come.
